After struggling with my health for the best part of 8 years, my father has donated me his kidney in August 2018. As much as I’m grateful for this gift, I’ve always tried to be grateful for every day I had been given, no matter how hard it was. I made it my mission to show my gratitude by filling every day with as much joy as I can.
The one thing that brings me a lot of joy is choosing the songs for The Healer Hip Hop Playlists. I’ve had many years of not keeping up with music. Where I felt His Hop or Soul Music is dead only because I didn’t take the time for myself to look for it.
So, here it is: my gift to you and me:
The Jamuary Playlist 2019
Jamuary is a month of growth for musicians of all kinds. These don’t only include those people who already make music, but also those who have an inner musician that is just waiting to come out! I’ve made the commitment in my interview with Anna-Liisa to finally publish my music I made about ten years ago.
Art heals
I want to encourage you to also take Jamuary as a month of growth, and take one little step to explore your inner musician or artist! Art heals and so does music. But actually creating music or art heals you even more, so let’s commit to that! I would love for you to share your songs and art with me!
Seek balance and energy
As usual, I want to point out two songs from playlist. One is the new single of Zambian-born, Botswana-raised and currently Melbourne-based female rapper SAMPA THE GREAT. It’s a very powerful ode to feminine energy in balance with the masculine, which I also talked about with Anna Liisa.
